FINE ART
This program provides the required skills and finished assets to differentiate student applications and help to gain acceptance at top tier fine art university programs.
OVERVIEW
One River School has developed a unique Pre College Program for motivated teens that offers the most innovative and practical approach to Art and Design education.
Based on years of research we have developed a program that provides compelling teen students with the most comprehensive and current understanding of what universities look for in the best applicants.
Our fine art program offers a comprehensive and rigorous preparatory experience that provides a unique experience for teenagers looking to pursue fine art in college. Students will create a body of work which demonstrates an experimentation with materials, ideas and an overall approach to art making that is investigative, ambitious and individualized.
- Intensive three-semester program runs from October 2019 through May 2020
- Each semester meets for 10 weeks with weekly 3-hour long classes
- Students complete up to 3 finished portfolio ready artworks per semester
- Taught by world-class educators and designed for advanced teen artists
- All artist quality materials and portfolios are included
CURRICULUM
SEMESTER 1
FOUNDATIONS
October - December 2019
Our first semester is the foundation to mastering the basics and preparing the fundamental art or design assets for university applications.
Students focus on perspective, composition, representation, color theory and more.
Projects include:
- Drawing Foundation
- Painting Foundation
- 3D Foundation
- Artist Statement
SEMESTER 2
EXPERIMENTATIONS
January - March 2020
Our second semester focuses on a variety of process oriented projects which place an emphasis on experimentation and inventiveness... ultimately pushing the boundaries of their pure potential and guiding them in their development.
Projects include:

- Experiments in Materials
- New Outcomes
- Artist Contextual Essay
SEMESTER 3
TRANSFORMATIONS
March - May 2020
The final semester allows students to build one-of-a-kind individualized portfolio outcomes that define their practice, dynamically change the context of their portfolios and leave them with an enhanced personal perspective.
Projects include:
- World Building
- Culminations
- Artwork Documentation
- Artist Monograph
